CMOS Checksum error

Well, after around 3 to 4 years usage of the pc, you would one day find out when your screen shows you a black screen and at the bottom asking you to run setup or to load default and continue. Normally this will happen when your internal battery runs out of juice. Yeah! There is a small battery that keeps the date and time running after you power off your computer.

The battery can be purchased at a watch shop, computer shop, stationary shop or online shop depending on where you are.

The small battery is a watch battery named, CR2032 used on most of the main board of the pc and some laptop. To change it, please remember to power off your computer and off the wall switch, just open the casing and most often you would see it in plain sight. Use a screw driver or something sharp to push against the small metal piece at the side of the battery which looks like a clip holding the battery in place.

It should pop out and you then can put in a fresh battery, close the casing and power back up
Now, to set the date and time, press DEL key (on most pc- some might be F2) to enter setup. Look for the date and time format to correct it. After that, you may want to move to boot device and try to change the first boot device to hdd (hard disk) to boot, the operating system as the first option. Lastly exit and continue save changes to reboot the computer and continue as normal.
