How to clean up computer to run smoother

Have you tried manually deleting temporary internet files, deleting cookies and inside of temp folder? It is good to do this because it would free up memory space and clean unwanted files and makes your computer run much smoother. The only thing is, there are many steps you have to go through to delete those files.

Example: to clear the temporary internet files on windows7, the process is first click start then control panel, network and internet, internet option, delete browsing history and cookies, under browsing history, delete. Then tick the items not wanted and press delete one more time.

And the next will be the deleting inside of temp folder which is much more difficult because it is hidden from view, and more steps needed to be done to delete those files inside of it.

There is a utility called Ccleaner by Piriform. It is small in size and runs fast to help you clean up the computer.

You can download from the web address shown and install it

 

Then open ccleaner and you will see on the left top corner.

First we have Cleaner icon.

 2 columns will show. One is “Windows” the other is “Applications”. Now it’s time to choose which items to keep and which to clean.

A tick on the check box means it will clear.

Without tick on the check box means to keep.

When done all you have to do is, go to the bottom right and click “Run Cleaner”.

Wait for the process to finish and it will show result of what’s been cleared.

Next will be Registry icon.

This function will clear up unwanted link of files not connected to windows anymore. Softwares that, you may have uninstalled.

Click “Scan for Issues”. Results will be shown with all ticked on the checkbox and we click “Fix selected issues” press yes to fix and next they will prompt you whether you want to backup. If you want to back up please type in a name for the backup and where you would like to keep. If not then press no and continue to clean registry.

The next option is Tools icon.

Here we have “Uninstall” will be the section with similar function to the windows control panel Add/Remove program to uninstall application. 

Next we have “Startup” icon. Here we should see a list of items that will load together with our operating windows system. If too many application starts with windows, it may take a longer time to load, so here we can pick and choose which one is needed or not needed.

Right click on item to choose whether to Enable or Disable. Don’t press delete icon if you are not sure, just enable or disable will do.

Other option icon you can explorer, but for normal usage those few icon suggested above will be more than enough to help you maintain a happy computer.
